Local Prosperity 2026 is open to all ages! Bring your family! There will be kids & youth programming taking place throughout the event!
- 18 years old and under tickets are ‘pay-what-you-can’ (but still must register here)!
- Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Parents or guardians of children 16 and under must accompany and stay with their kids at kids programming.
As part of their Summer Outings Series, Maggie’s Place Family Resource Centres will run a drop-in activity space at Tatamagouche Regional Academy (92 Blair Avenue, Tatamagouche) from 10am to 2pm on Friday at the green space adjacent to the Academy’s outdoor basketball court. Saturday’s activities will shift to the Farmers’ Market at Creamery Square (39 Creamery Road, Tatamagouche) from 9am to 1pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 2pm. A summer student will be on-site to run large movement activities, games, crafts, healthy snacks, bubbles, and chalk. These activities will be open to all ages, from babies through teens. The focus is on getting community members outside, playing, and moving their bodies. Since this is not a childcare service, parents must be present to supervise their younger children.

Through experiments, observations, art, and hands-on activities, discover how healthy soil supports healthy communities. (Designed for children ages 8+. Parents and guardians are asked to allow children to participate independently.) - Meet the Author: Michelle Robinson
– Join local author Michelle Robinson for a special story time as she reads from one of her children’s books. Kids will enjoy a fun story, meet the author, and learn more about the magic of books and storytelling.
– Michelle Robinson is an award-winning children’s author whose books about funny, imaginative adventures have been published in many languages and enjoyed by families, schools, and libraries around the world. Originally from Gloucester, England, she now lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, where the region’s natural beauty inspires her writing. She also regularly visits schools, both in person and online, to share her passion for storytelling.

– Through planting a pollinator garden and a fruit tree guild together, learn all about biodiversity and habitat creation as a climate action. We will explore native and perennial plants as food for people, pollinators, and birds. One of three Food Forest workshops exploring the stages of installing a food forest guild. Suitable for ages 8 and up. (Designed for children ages 8+. – Learn how water supports healthy gardens by building and painting a rain barrel, exploring mulching techniques, and creating garden art and signage. Through hands-on activities and experiments, discover practical ways to conserve and care for water. (Designed for children ages 8+. Parents and guardians are asked to allow children to participate independently.) - Nourish Nova Scotia Night Garden: Moth Observation & Food Forest Celebration – 8PM-9:30PM @ Tatamagouche Regional Academy Outdoor Classroom & Greenhouse
– Experience the food forest after dark during this unique evening celebration. Beginning at sunset, participants will observe moths and other nocturnal pollinators attracted to light while discovering the important role these fascinating nighttime creatures play in healthy ecosystems.
