The 2015 & 2016 Local Prosperity conferences were the Centre for Local Prosperity’s first projects as an organization – a decade later, we reimagine Local Prosperity 2026 in a new format as a hybrid festival-conference with our co-conveners (the North Shore Community Connections Society, and the Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia) to gather and celebrate the localization movement together while showcasing an exemplary community in our region – the village and people of Tatamagouche and the North Shore region of Nova Scotia.
Centre for local prosperity
The Centre for Local Prosperity is a registered charity focused on building community and economic resilience throughout Mi’kma’ki (Atlantic Canada) by researching, educating, and convening on topics related to economic localization – place-based, community-scale economies that support the people that live within them.
RURAL COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION OF NOVA SCOTIA
RCFNS is a charity dedicated to empowering residents and communities of rural nova Scotia through sustainable granting and convening. Their vision is that all rural Nova Scotian residents live within healthy, prosperous, and sustainable communities.

North shore community connections society
The North Shore Community Connections Society (NSCCS) is a community group based on the North Shore of Nova Scotia, which includes the village of Tatamagouche and surrounding area.
NSCCS’s mission is to strengthen individual and community resilience by sharing knowledge and resources, with no financial barriers. They host hands-on workshops that teach life skills—such as growing, cooking, and preserving food, exploring plant medicine, and making household items. They also organize makers’ and clothing swaps, winter skating events, and community gatherings like “Soup and Ships” and summer music celebrations.
